How to Add an ICS File to Your Google Calendar or Outlook Calendar

What is an ICS File?

 
An ICS file is a universal calendar file type that allows anyone to sync a calendar with its events to another app or software. For example, if you’re using Google Calendar and want to sync it to Outlook, you’ll be able to do that as long as you have the ICS file.
 

How to Add an ICS File to Your Google Calendar

 
First, you must download the ICS file from another calendar app or software.
 
For example, if you want to add an ICS file from Outlook to Google Calendar, you must first download the ICS file from Outlook.
 
Once you have the ICS file, you can:
 
1. Open your Google Calendar.
2. Click on Settings.
3. On the left tab, find “Import and Export.”
4. Click on “Select File from your Computer.”
5. Select the ICS file that you want to import.
6. Click “Import.”
Check your calendar to make sure that the file you’ve imported has been reflected in your calendar.

How to Add an ICS File to Your Outlook Calendar

 
Make sure that you have the ICS file ready for import to Outlook.
 
You can perform the following steps:
 
1.  In Outlook, select File > Open & Export > Import/Export.
2.  In Import and Export Wizard box, select Import an iCalendar (.ics) or vCalendar file (.vcs) ,and then Next..
3.  Select the calendar file from your PC and select OK..
4.  Select Open as New. The items are automatically imported into your calendar..

When adding an ICS file to Outlook, you may get a pop-up that says:

Add this Internet calendar to outlook?
You should only open from sources you know and trust.
Attachment “invite.ics” from getWise “call scheduled”

Just click, “Yes” to sync it with your calendar.

If you click no, the file won’t be uploaded and you won’t see the event in your calendar.
